Band Boosters

bandIn the fall of 2004, Kingwood began building a band program. Now, it has an enrollment of 47 students and has 4 separate bands: Introductory Band (4th grade), Beginner Band (5th grade), Pep Band (6th-12th grades), and Concert Band (6th-12th grades).

The Pep Band supports our Athletic Program by performing in the stands and at half-time during home football games. At times, they have played to cheer on the KCS Basketball team also.

For the first time in March of 2007, the Concert Band participated in the AISA State Band Festival in Mobile, Alabama, and received a superior rating. Two students from KCS were placed in the AISA State Honor Band. The Concert Band performed again at the AISA State Band Festival for 2008 at Huntingdon College and received a superior rating. There were eleven KCS students placed in the AISA State Honor Band. At Musicfest Orlando in Florida, in April of 2008, the Concert Band received an excellent rating and first place in their division. For the first time ever, the band participated in the 2008 Alabaster Christmas Parade and received first place in the city's highest award. The Concert Band performs yearly at the KCS Fine Arts Night and at various other events: Galleria Belk Concert, Christmas Nursing Home Concert, Christmas Chapel at KCS, and Spring Book Fair Concert.
